About Us
Our Aims
Chapter of Medical Genetic Pathology was launched on 3rd March 2021 during ICPaLM 2021. Genetic Pathology is a vastly growing discipline that oversees the diagnosis, interpretation, and clinical application of genetic alterations in human diseases and healthcare using a wide range genetic testing methods from cytogenetics to the most advanced molecular techniques.
The chapter aims:

to represent, inspire, encourage and empower the members at all relevant committees and sub-committees of the College, the Academy, the Ministry of Health of Malaysia, the universities and other government and semi-government agencies, to achieve their professional and personal goals on matters related to genetic pathology and forge stronger relations with similar bodies globally.

to promote education, training, scientific research and certification in medical genetic pathology amongst pathologists, trainees and prospective trainees.

to advice the authorities on regulation and ethical practice in genetics and genomics in the country.

to educate and protect patients with genetic diseases and their families against stigmatization of accessibility to appropriate diagnostics and treatment.
Core Activities
The Chapter’s core activities are:

advocating for better integration of genetic pathology into healthcare systems.

ensuring ethical and regulatory compliance in genetic pathology services.

engaging with healthcare authorities to influence policy-making in medical genetics.

educating the public and healthcare professionals about the role of genetic pathology in patient care by conducting workshops, seminars, and conferences on genetic pathology.

collaborating with patients’ advocacy organizations and support groups.

supporting postgraduate education, continuous professional development (CPD), research, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

Double helix intertwined around the Hermes staff represents molecular genetics revolving around medicine, as an important extension of medicine, that the two go hand in hand in terms of providing medical diagnosis to patients.

Progressive. Precise. Personalized is our motto as we strive to provide the Malaysian a precise and personalized approach to the diagnosis and treatment of diseases by means of molecular genetics techniques, while at the same time, being progressive and in line with recent global advancements.

The colour navy blue exudes freedom, inspiration, and open spaces surrounding the central dogma of genetics, while at the same time, representing confidence, wisdom and intelligence which are the traits monumental in a medical genetic pathologist.
