About Us
The formation of Special Interest Group – Digital Pathology & Artificial Intelligence (SIG-DPAI) was endorsed and granted formal approval by the CPath Executive Committee on 21 October 2025.
SIG-DPAI serves as a professional platform dedicated to advancing awareness, knowledge, and responsible implementation of digital pathology and artificial intelligence (AI) in pathology practice across Malaysia. The Group brings together pathologists and relevant professionals from public, academic, and private sectors to support safe, effective, and ethical adoption of digital and AI technologies in diagnostic services
Our Objectives

The primary objective of forming this special interest group is to create a focused, collaborative platform that will:

Generate interest and awareness in digital pathology and AI applications among pathologists and personnels working in the diagnostic field.

Facilitate knowledge sharing and development of best practices in Digital Pathology and AI applications.

Enhance implementation of Digital Pathology in clinical diagnosis.

Encourage research, innovation, and education to advance the field.

Provide guidance and recommendations to relevant stakeholders for adoption and regulation of Digital Pathology and AI.

Foster networking among professionals and institutions involved in digital pathology and AI in pathology.
Core Activities
In alignment with its objectives, SIG-DPAI focuses on the following core activities:

Promoting education and training in digital pathology and AI through seminars, workshops, and professional forums.

Supporting scientific research, innovation, and collaborative projects in digital pathology and AI, including data-driven initiatives.

Contributing to the development of National Digital Pathology & AI Guidelines, informed by international best practices and local needs.

Engaging with regulators, professional bodies, academia, and industry to support policy development, standardisation, and ethical governance.

Creating platforms for multidisciplinary networking and stakeholder engagement to strengthen national readiness and implementation of digital pathology and AI in Malaysia
