About Us

Our Aims 

Established in October 2025, the Sarcoma Special Interest Group is governed by the Constitution of the Academy of Medicine of Malaysia (AMM) and the By-laws of the College of Pathologists and Chapter of Anatomic Pathology. It is an association that aims to establish a supportive, inclusive, and learning-focused sarcoma platform with following key objectives:

1. Formal Advocate and Representation: To establish a recognized group with a dedicated committee, advocating for national sarcoma society, both for national and international representations and collaboration.

2. Foster Unity and Teamwork: To provide a sustainable and organized platform to unite multidisciplinary medical professionals from various sectors including KKM, Universities, and Private Hospitals to communicate, network, support and work together in managing sarcoma.

3. Registry and Database: To formulate nationwide de-identified comprehensive sarcoma registry and database to help identify accurate real-time national sarcoma burden and pattern for the purpose of supporting collaborative research and service development.

4. Scientific Publications and Research Collaborations: To promote scientific publication, research collaboration and international presentations in area of Sarcoma.

5. Advancement Opportunities: To promote innovations, tissue banking, digital pathology, AI-related projects and genomic research pertaining to Bone and Soft Tissue Pathology.  

6. Bone and Soft Tissue Pathology Training and Service Guidelines: To formulate latest guidelines, best practices and standards for national Bone and Soft Tissue Pathology services.

7. Knowledge Sharing: To create regular up-to-date knowledge exchange sessions and to inspire, encourage and empower specialists with interest in sarcoma management to achieve their professional and personal goals.

8. Social Activities and Fundraising: Organize social events and fundraising initiatives to support activities within the group and to educate public on Sarcoma.
